This was a new build property within a new estate, so very much a blank canvas. The client was keen to turn her garden into a ‘an urban country garden’ bringing in nature, blooms, a pond and privacy.
The scheme embraced the water as a main feature to the garden. We found a beautiful old water pump head and local old sandstone water trough as the source of the water feature, which then fell into a stream which flowed and fell through the planted middle garden into a 4m pond at the garden’s lowest point.
The water source and stream was positioned next to a new sandstone terrace outside the kitchen for the client to enjoy. There is also a more immersive seat next to the pond, surrounded by planting,
A meandering gravel path network looped through the garden and around the pond.
The planting included a number of trees to bring enclosure, flowering shrubs and a meadow of seasonal perennials to create a pollinators dream.
The front and side garden used woodland plants and a couple of small trees for its shady aspect.
