NORTH SHIELDS

SUBURBAN GARDEN

Luke Arend garden design abbots way play end North Shields.jpg

As an undeveloped lawned garden, the client was keen to bring nature and volume into the garden, but retain play space fo their young boy.

The design concept is all about encouraging wildlife into the garden. The child has a fascination of nature which we wanted to nurture by making a lush pollen sanctuary for nature in the suburbs. Functionally the design enables play and fun for the family with a separate haven for adults to relax.

The scheme includes a new and enlarged sandstone terrace, which steps up into a lush planted garden. The sweeping curved beds of perennials, roses and grasses have a central lawned area.

At one end is an intimate circular seating area surrounded by rich planting where parents can unwind and socialise whilst being able to watch their child play.

Designed and built in spring 2020
